Today I will be reviewing The Queen starring Helen Mirren and James Cromwell. Let the running commentary begin. Running Commentary - Starts off with the Queen watching Tony Blair getting elected on the news. She tells her painter that she wishes she was able to vote.Cuts to Tony Blair's first day in office.The Queen is talking about Blair and Blair is talking to his wife about The Queen. Queen and Blair have a brief meeting and she allows him to create a government in her name. Good scene. The acting in this movie is great.Princess Diana's controversies are now going on. This is really good.Diana running and getting into a limo. Photographers on motorbikes are chasing them with cameras.One of the Queen's advisors gets a phone call in the middle of the night.The Queen is woken up by her daughter and she is told by their Embassy in France that the Princess Diana was in a car accident. Blair gets a phone call about it too.The royal family watches the news on the television and Charles joins them. Charles wants to fly to Paris but the Queen doesn't want him to go.Soon they get the news that Diana died and now Blair has to deal with it. He says it's going to be massive. He was right. This is getting really good.Charles is telling the boys about what happened.Charles is going to France to retrieve the body and the Queen wants the television and radio taken out of where the boys play at.Footage of the Palace in the aftermath of the death of Diana.Queen and Blair talk about what to do on the phone. Blair tries to tell the Queen to celebrate Diana's life and to have a public funeral but the Queen doesn't want to do it.Blair gives his speech about Diana being the "People's Princess" as the Queen watches on television and everyone in the room is crying except for the Queen and Phillip.Blair starts planning for all contingencies as far as the funeral goes.Diana's casket arrives and Charles and Blair both want to have a public funeral.The Queen is watching news coverage about Diana and wants to go to bed instead of watch it.More footage of Diana's death aftermath.Blair is the one who is getting the possitive press about handling Diana's death and they agree about the public funeral but the Queen doesn't know about it.The Queen is finally told the plans about the funeral. The Queen isn't happy at all especially when actors and celebrities are involved. She does agree reluctantly to the plans as well as the condolence book.Charles continues to butter up Blair. What a suck up.The Queen and Charles talking about Diana's death but the Queen leaves mid-conversation.The public is mad at the Royal Family for not saying a word and not putting up a flag up at half mast. Blair is getting annoyed by them already, lol.Blair wants the flag being lowered and the Queen says not even the flag would be at half mast when her father died. The Royals are all bitching about it now.Charles wants to send some cards of gratitude and wants to have the Union Jack at half mast.The papers are still against the Royals over their reaction to Diana's death.Blair calls the Queen about the papers and tells them that mood is delicate. He tells her the moment for statements has passed and the Queen should consider coming to London. She declines and Blair tells his assistant that he is not the one the people want to see.The Queen is off road driving to find Phillip and the boys hunting but breaks her truck axel.The Queen breaks down finally and cries only to look over and see the prized stag right across the river from her. She hears gunshots and tries to shoo it away before Phillip gets to it.The Queen and Phillip are talking about the news being against them and Phillip wants her to stick to her guns.Blair calls to tell The Queen that 70% of people in the UK are mad about the Queen's handling of the situation and that 1 in 4 want to abolish the monarchy because of this. The Queen tells her mom what Blair said and her mother is furious.The Queen's mother is completely against it and goes on a rant about it.Against everyone else's objections the Queen agrees to what Blair wants.The Royal Family goes to look at the flowers left for Diana in London and the Queen is going to give an address on Friday.The Queen finds out to the prized buck was shot at a neighboring estate and goes over to see it.Blair's finally had enough and goes on a rant about everyone getting on the Queen's case. This is great.The Queen gives her speech and Blair's wife is bitching about him going gaga for the Queen.Diana's funeral finally happens and cut to two months later with Blair getting ready to meet the Queen. They have their meeting and go out for a walk on good terms to end the movie. Overall: 4 out of 5 stars. I really liked this movie. The acting was really good and it was well done. Mirren did an excellent job as the Queen in this. I'm going to recommend this movie.
